Last Saturday we have had another IUPE´s international meeting by net, showing to all of us some spectacular results reached by our methodology changes.
It was really fantastic! All teachers are achieving very good solutions. All solutions are pointing to real social transformations, mainly in the Culture of the Character Education.
Saturday meeting we´ve had five African small town teachers representing the education community. They participate all time “online” using radio net wired computers from a neighboring champing near the school. They were very happy in participating along with people from all other countries around the world. They attempted that their education problems are almost the same all around the world.
Absence of limits by family education, bad television programs and bad video-games are still being pointed as the major education problem. The same case occurs in Afghanistan, Sweden, Brazil, South Africa, United States, Nigeria or Switzerland.
Some teachers say there´s no way to change children minds, because of bad influences they get from society. They say children cannot be happy at all, due to the lack of love and limits they should be getting from their parents. Children bad behavior and violence at school are natural consequences from bad society, according to them.
Otherwise a physical education teacher working with refugees’ children in Afghanistan told us the wonderful changes their children are achieving by raising their self esteem, developing studies interest and mainly increasing their humanity culture of the character vision.
By the way: they are all AIDETIC children precociously condemned to death… and you can see all of them happy all time, living enthusiastically, playing sports, studying, researching, writing, reading and so on! They have not parents anymore. They have not family at all.
How can we understand this great difference? Where is the error? What this physical education teacher is doing with these children?
He is doing exactly what we all should be doing all time! Building the Culture of the Character Education inside these children minds! Their brains, by their own, will do the rest.
We need to change!
I won´t speak, today, about our methodology structure. This will be done next time, as soon as our searchers have finished the new Virtudious RPG (Role Playing Games) specially designed to help children developing their minds directed to life success.
We need to talk about special points to be followed by all our teachers. Write me please as soon as you have some results from these points.
Beyond the necessary teacher`s assiduity and punctuality (we have to be aware that we are examples for the children), follow, please, these small points:
1st:
Love wave in class starting point
Before starting your lesson please look straight to each one of them, in order to say, mentally: “I am here looking at you and loving you. You are here and you are important for me.”
By doing this you will be sending a wave of affection. Children will get it. This is the moment of true love, a strong word.
When people are in an auditorium position, either attending to a seminary, congress or classroom, they will be much more happy and interested if they understand they are integrated to the space and to the speaker.
2nd:
Discipline to complete real love
Love, instead, should never exist without discipline! Together they link perfect.
Love without order and behavior control generates monsters! They assume world is made only to them and create the tendency to eliminate each obstacle to this.
Behavior control and order are achieved by responsible teachers training their pupils in order to obey rules and punishing them when they disobey. When teachers don`t maintain good classroom discipline they will never be a good teacher.
Discipline without love generates neurotic children and sick adults. Everyone needs some kind of affectivity.
So, the second point is to exercise behavior control and order, the two major components of discipline. If you have a fifty minutes class, fulfill them! Children must be sure you are in command and you have total domain over the issue and over what you are teaching. Children cannot be by their own, unless it is time to be by their own.
During class time they need to have the feeling they are increasing their knowledge, If this feeling doesn`t exist they become insecure. Insecure children think that they are not as good as their colleagues and they can be worried that others don`t respect them.
3rd:
Human value inside all disciplines issues
The human value to be worked on the next three weeks, from November 1st to 19th is cooperation. We just worked on respect and results were very interesting.
All teachers have to adequate this value to their discipline in order to fix the idea inside children minds. We all know this is the best way to transform society. We have to start the transformation by our students.
Mrs. Diane Tillman (www.livingvalues.net) and Mr. Alan Saunders (charactereducation@iifwp.org), both from New York, USA, have some books showing how to work on human values with children and adults as well. I guess all of you already know her books. If someone needs some additional information write me, please, or write them.
4th:
Physical education with enjoyable and entertaining activities
Physical education classes must dedicate part of its time to develop child and adolescent entertainment activities. These activities could be indoor and outdoor fun games and others enjoyable and entertaining ones. All these activities must be integrated with the same human value which is been worked by all other teachers (cooperation during these three weeks).
This is very important to give them more fun activities options. They think they only have fun with TV programs, vide-games and computers. And we know these options are taking them to such a state of conscience where family, morality and spirituality values are falling below the minimum standards we can consider right.
At the same time we need to stimulate students to play board games like chess or any other indoor game preferably those which can develop expertise, knowledge, intellectuality and intelligence.
5th:
Scholar ranking table
In order to motivate and stimulate them to read, to write, to research, to study and to participate in games contest and competition it is a good choice to create a scholar ranking table, where students will be positioned by order of their total performance level. The punctuation may be the addition of the scores obtained in all these activities.
6th:
Special cases records
We all should write special cases records in order to disseminate the problems and difficulties we are getting and to relate which actions we took to solve them. We now that cases are almost the same all over the world.

7th:
Parents and teachers meeting
Some teachers related that have very good results in increasing students performances after the first family – teachers – students round-table meeting.
One month before the event all families received a note asking what issue they would like to discuss in school side by side with teachers and their children.
They sent their suggestions and the coordinator choose the issue. This event has been a success! But it is very important to be aware that you cannot have too many people. We have to do one class each time to be sure it will run well.
